I totally agree about the Patra. We had a look at the kids club while we were there and it was fabulous. I think its a great hotel - far enough away from it all, very close to the airport if anything happens untoward, safe from the point of view that I believe its owned by the government, the staff are fabulous and I really did get a kick out of the planes taking off! They are currently in the throes of extending the beachfront - reclaiming the ocean to create a promenade/beach if you know what I mean. They hope to be finished by next year.
Thanks for your wishes regarding the other - I get told all the time to just relax and let it happen.... we shall see!
