if you have a tape deck with RCA out (the red and white holes) you can get a cable which is RCA (red and white) on one end and headphone jack the other end (the thiner plug that on the end of your headphones) you can connect the tape deck to the audio in on your soundcard and use basic audio software like Audacity(http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)and record away then save the file as an mp3 on your computer.
