This happened to me a few weeks ago and whilst I don't mind them frisking me and searching through my bags, it would have been nice to have a little bit of warning - even a sign 20 meters before arriving at the roped off area would have been nice - as it came as a bit of a shock. I had two wooden salad forks taken off me which I thought was ridiculous. I usually take all my "stuff to declare" items in a small carry on so it's easier at the customs end, so I had these in that bag and they took them off me because they were "dangerous items". It was a bit of a farce because if I really wanted to cause some injury on a plane I'm sure I could come up with far more creative weapons (the metal spike in the arm of my eye-glasses for example).

Anyway, my Mother and I then watched as many other passengers cam abruptly to the roped off area and looked watched as they looked shocked and confused with the frisking and bag searching. It was just a bit of a sour note at the end of the trip and we thought a bit of pre-warming might have been nice.
