I have been going to Bali for the last 12 years...
I have stayed in Legian Beach Hotel, Padma, Niksoma, Swastika and Raddison in Sanue, Alam KulKul..but since 2003 I have been staying only at one place MBR...I have been there with my kids and husband, been there with just my girlfriends, been there with my family + 6 others, and I have to say - I love MBR.....
Yes there are hotels with better facilities, there maybe hotels with better value for money - there are hotels that are much more top shelf...BUT I love MBR. I love the staff - in all areas of the hotel - they are all just amazing and friendly. I love the rooms (my favourite are rooms 170-176 - ground fl suite near the little private pool. I love the location (great restaurants in walking distance - Seaside, Lanies, Zanzibar, PocoLocos, Indonational, Warung Yogya, Posers Corner etc.....near good supermarkets, near an awesome laundry service (Sinar Beach Cottages), right on the beach - half way between centro and Ku De Ta...(so great for early morning beach walks)
The day spa is great value for money, the staff are great (Ask for Made or Sri), even the standard rooms are great and there are 3 pools to choose from.
Its a great hotel, and I wouldnt dream of staying anywhere else.
