but some of my memories are slightly different. I agree with everything that has already been said about staff etc. I had the wooden room next to the gym. I could lay in bed and watch the activities in the rice paddies. One day I couldn't believe it, the ducks were squawking and there was a large dog in the fields, he grabbed a duck and took off to the Monkey Forest. I consoled myself by thinking that perhaps he had a family to feed. I was there in June when they had the worst weather, more rain in one day than the rainy season. Everywhere was flooded. If you know the wooden room (on stilts next to the gym) has a small stepping stone path to it, well I woke up in the morning to find this under water. I couldn't believe it. My friends children thought this was fantastic, splashing around, me...where's the boat? The sight though of 2 staff members trying to unblock a drain, trousers rolled up and holding an umbrella was a sight to be seen. The staff delivered breakfast in one hand, umbrella in the other. The Ubud streets were flooded and so driving was very difficult. Needless to say we had a fun day trying to keep dry. Dinner that night became a picnic on the balcony and we watched someone trying to catch eels. I had my massages at the hotel spa, Pertenin (forgive spelling) about 5 mins drive from hotel in same building as the laundry. It hasn't been open for very long, but I loved it. Dayu was fantastic. The hotel drives you there then picks you up. From memory reasonably priced. I am hoping to be there again in March. Cheers, Stormy
