Yes, we all had them. Also bought them for my young (then) nephews, who also loved them. I kept one sleeveless one for as long as possible but eventually it had to go. What about the wooden banana palm trees? This was also something you had to buy on your first trip. Mine, bought in 1982, still has pride of place. The other thing I bought then was a temple umbrella, not the type that you buy these days, but an original from the village that made them for the temples. I never did get around to using it. Still have it though. I had Balinese friends staying with me in September and they wouldn't believe me when I said it was an original. They were very surprised when they saw it. I have photos now of Wayan dancing with the umbrella (looks rather unusual in my lounge room).
