hello...

I think its such a waste of time doing a day trip, because you miss out on so much when only visiting Yogyakarta for one day... there are heaps of other famous temples, jalan malioboro the shopping strip, the sultans palace and his water palace also.... if you do a day trip... you really miss out...

there's kasongan village very famous for ceramics

kota gede famous for silver...

Ketep Pass (a little but further past the turn off to borobudur) a great look out where you can see all 5 volcanos of central java however later in the day the summits of the volcano's are usually covered in cloud... here you have a small museum and theatre which tells you about the most famous volcano MERAPI... :) and its FREEZING up there !!

kaliurang... similiar to UBUD monkey forrest..with a lovely waterfall which is easy to get to and the monkeys are pretty well behaved... lovely and cool here.. nice for picnics

or you have parangritis beach (volcanic sand) and lots of traditional ceremonies always happening...

Anyway, my suggestions are when visiting borobudur are... get there early (which you will if going on a day tour) take heaps of water... cuz it gets really hot.... the stairs going up are pretty steep, take your time to walk around each level.. (time for a breather)

and its always best to get there early anyway to beat the crowds..

for foreigners they charge about 10 USD admission... and about 2000 rupiah to take your camera in as well.
