I have been told that they do use the $2 coins by someone who i trust BUT i am still not totally convinced.
I have very high acid content in my skin and all metals other than gold i react to.
Anything plated, dipped (triple dipped) i strip in about 2 weeks and it can not be restored.
I bought my first 'coin bangle' about 10 years ago (or was it 8???)never been off my arm and its still as good as the day i got it, i clean it every couple of months with silvo.
If it was brass as someone suggested, then i would have a permanent green arm, any other metal would now be totally trashed including my skin.
Which makes me lean towards that they are made from $2 coins or part thereof. Common theory is that they are hammered flat before re-modeling.
I have never handed over any coins to make any of the bracelets i have purchased over the years and i bought over 50 (truth) over the years.
I usually pay between rp10 000 - 15 000.
I think they are making the money out of the unsuspecting that hand over the extra coins 'needed to make bangle'.
Had a lady in my shop last month that sent over $200 worth of coins for a necklace mmmmmmmmm
we are heading over next month and i am determind to solve the mystery!!!!
Stay tuned for results.
