and i think the US dollar was about 2,000 rupiah - 1 dollar
I remember at school here in Jakarta that i could get a coke and POP MIE for 1500 rupiah...
a bakso (bowl of meatball soup) was 500 rupiah... (now 4000)
a teh botol (bottled iced tea) was only 300 rupiah.. (now 2000 rupiah)
the bus fare was 300 rupiah, any distance... now its about 2000 rp.
Nasi goreng per plate was 1500 rupiah, now its between 5 or 6 thousand from street sellers..
Cassettes were only 10,000 rupiah.. local band cassettes were only 3000 rupiah....
taxi was only 2000 rupiah to open the door, now the cheapest is 4000 (tarif lama) or 5000
I miss those days.... *sigh*
