I've dealt with monkeys on occassions too in other circumstances and I hear your frustrations.....I have not had this problem (yet and hopefully not) with Jetstar but I do not doubt that you have had your problems with them, otherwise you would be singing their praises.
Totally not defending them (as I've not flown with them internationally yet) however I had an interesting episode in 2001 when I flew to Hawaii with Qantas..... the flight from Sydney to Honolulo was second to none....honestly they were the best crew I have ever flown with - possibly becuase they were a training crew however on my flight home I almost CRACKED IT!!! We had nothing but crappy service the whole way and the cabin crew were very close to being thrown off the flight by the lot of us.
Another incident I encountered was when my friend and I flew from Denpasar to Singapore in Business Class (granted it was via our FF points but that should not matter). From the moment we climbed up the stairs to the upper deck she encountered major attitude. So much so that we had to get the purser and request to move.
I don't know.... maybe its sadly the sign of the times but I really don't think its that hard to be polite and friendly to people... especially when your in the service industry.
