I have very happy memories of Villa Rasa Sayang. I stayed there once when it was newly opened, because Ubud Village Hotel was full. There was still a farm right next door, with a cow that looked over the fence at us and ate hibiscus from the fence. There was a bat that hung from our verandah evey night when we were outside having drinks.
It rained early every morning and we'd swim in the rain. Frogs from the farm would have got into the pool and I'd swim around rescuing them.
After the swim and a shower, one of the guys who looked after the hotel would come down the path with his trousers rolled up, umbrella in one hand and our breakfast tray in the other hand. I still know one of those guys, all these years later, though he's a driver now.
