DAY ELEVEN - TWELVE
We were awake bright and early - the Dusun beats every where else for peace and quiet. At ABN the ocean waves can be heard all night, so takes some getting used to, but at the Dusun, not a noise to be heard, so you can sleep in happily.
Final day of shopping had dawned and so we headed off to find mirrors.
Bodyworks
We were the first appointments for the day at Bodyworks II and we both indulged in a manicure and pedicure to go home with lovely fingers and bunga toes. Very relaxing hour spent sprucing up and getting rid of that old flaky skin. Toes were 97,000 Rp and fingers cheaper than that.
Aman Shop - mirrors
Jalan Raya Seminyak No. 38
Made picked us up and off we went to search for our mirrors.
Aman Shop has three shop locations, but we opted for the closest.
I had taken photos of the mirrors in Bodyworks this morning, as that is exactly what I wanted, a long mirror with mosaic border in like a mirror ball pattern, all made of mirror without any extra colours. We met Andy and he took our order for two mirrors, both 1.8 metres long by about 1 metre. Cost was $A150 each. Hoping that they can replicate the pattern from the photos.
Had to take another last trip back to Haveli to stock up on a few more napkin sets as gifts.
La Sal - Spanish
Jalan Drupadi
We had an afternoon of cocktails using frozen watermelon, the final bananas and the end of the Bacardi, which was a great way to spend the last hours of our holiday. It did fill me up a bit, so not much room for dinner. We ventured to La Sal, a Spanish restaurant tucked away along Jalan Drupadi. Lovely outdoor setting and we enjoyed a meal for 5 of us, including drinks of wine, beer and sangria for about $30 each. Lovely tapas - crumbed mushrooms, garlic prawns, the best chicken croquettes, olives etc etc. Paella was a little bit bland, but the lamb dish was to rave about. We will certainly go back there again. The food was great.
DEPARTURE DAY
I did try the banana pancakes for our last Bali breakfast and I immediately regretted it - much too sweet for me. I know a lot of people rave about them and I was trying to get my last banana fix in, but I will stick to the savoury nasi goring or mie goreng instead, in future!
Our flight was at lunchtime, so we managed to squeeze all the shopping into the cases and headed off to the airport with a final wave to each place along the way.
Noticed additional security at the airport entrance, they stopped all cars going to the departures section and used a mirror to check beneath the car and also opened the boot.
We knew not to lock the suitcases, as Qantas does check for explosives with a swipey thingy before you check in your luggage. We were a few kilos over, but nobody said anything - thankfully!
Qantas Club - Premier Lounge
Glad that from Perth is now a QF flight instead of an Australian Airlines, so that means we got passes to the Club. This premier lounge was very pleasant to sit and wait for the flight. A few last drinks and nibblies. Read a magazine called ‘The Yak' which has some lovely articles on restaurants around Bali, so will remember to look out for that in future.
Flight home had a movie we had already seen (X Men), so tried to catch up on some sleep and returned to a cold and wet Perth and ready to start making preparations to do it all again in 6 months time, if not sooner!
