We were also surprised to get a call saying we were picked out of a lottery of arrivals to Bali for a special prize since we chose our hotel for our last two days in Kuta at the last minute. We definately did not record this hotel on our immigration card. I reckon it was the hotel who gave them our details. When I questioned the caller as to where he got my details from, he said the airport but I pressed him further, saying this was impossible and he hung up.
On our trip 2 years ago we were also harassed by a timeshare agent who was quite rude when we said we weren't interested. Maybe a solution is to let hotel reception staff know that we will not accept unsolicted calls on our holiday time?
