Last year we caught the Perama Bus from Kuta to Padang Bai & Perama ferry from there to Gili T. If you have a strong stomach, sense of humour, dont mind getting wet & time is plentiful go for it. I enjoyed it - many didnt!!!! Cant remember the exact cost but I think around 200,000 including a lovely lunch and fantastic crew. That took from 8am to after sunset. Very wet tranfer, due to rough seas, from ferry to small boat that took us in to the island. Stayed there for a while & went to Sengiggi for a couple of days.
On the way back we paid 100,000 each - from a tour operator - for road transport from Sengiggi to ferry terminus and the "fast ferry" back to Padang Bai. Thirteen in a small people mover with luggage was not very comfortable and - guess what - we missed "fast ferry". "No worries the next ferry here soon" they said. It was the public ferry - long trip - nightmare van ride back to Kuta. Was seething at the time but now I find it was an unforgetable experience and always laugh that we were jibbed. Having said that I wouldn't have missed it for the world. TIP - Dont hand over travel vouchers / tickets unless you are sure its the person supplying your transport!!!! Have fun!!!!!
