Wow - it's amazing how much faster two weeks goes in Bali than at work! My husband and I arrived back on Friday from two weeks at the MBR in Legian, it was brilliant had an awesome time. This was our second trip to Bali the first being six years ago and I was amazed at the difference - there are a lot less people around (tourists I mean) and a lot more actual shops as opposed to stalls (for want of a better description). However the people are still lovely, the foods still great and the Bin tang is still cold.
A lot of the locals asked us to let people know that Bali is still a great place and that they need the tourists ... and it is lovely and we felt safe the whole time. When I got my nails done the Sally told me that it was the first business she'd had in about three weeks - felt that this might have been an exageration but ...
Best piece of advice off this forum was getting money changed at the Kodak shops - we had no problems whatsoever.
MBR
The staff at this resort are lovely, the location is superb, the rooms are brilliant (nice and spacious), the pool water is cloudy and was described by one guest as 'like porridge' - not sure about that but ... and the food is best avoided. I would imagine it would be a great resort to stay at with kids - it has that nice friendly atmosphere.
MBR Spa
There is 50% off all treatments - very luxurious, great staff, great atmosphere.
Food
We spent approx $20 each night for dinner (entrée, two mains and a couple of bin tangs) so you can't really go wrong ... we especially enjoyed Zanzibar, IndoNational and Blue Ocean all of which are in Legain. At Blue Ocean it was lovely to sit and play a game of backgammon after dinner!
In all honesty other than a lot of walking, a bit of shopping, eating and drinking we spent the majority of our time relaxing. With a trip up to see the volcano and a day trip on the Bali Bounty - both good fun.
