The pain killers I have prescribed are Panadeine forte - which are fairly quick acting, and another product called Tramal. This is a powerful slow release analgesic that is taken twice daily to control severe pain. This stuff is quite volatile and in most cases can only be prescribed in 10 day dosage. The problem with Tramal is that whilst it is a highly effective pain management drug, it's also got a few unpleasant side-effects and can zone you out as well. I don't want my Bali holiday to be a haze but I also don't want to remember it for the pain. I've had the knee operated on 18 times and its pretty much been bone on bone for 35 years which why when it hurts, it hurts a lot! If I can avoid it I would rather not carry a pharmacy-load of medication around with me, but it would nice to know that I can get something across the counter locally that will offer me relief. If it gets really bad I can always see the Hotel doctor...but I'm hoping it won't come to that.
