It's still the same. The gate in the fence in the laneway was closed for one night and you could always close it yourself if you were worried. We were there for 12 nights and stayed in the room directly opposite the gate and did not feel concerned about security at all. In fact we liked the idea of the wall as it felt even more secure as in "out of sight out of mind". We did not see any or hear of any suspect characters. For most of the daylight hours there were staff wondering about. We both enjoyed our stay there and after walking up to and through the Griya Santrium both day and night without signing anything, we felt that the Peneeda View offered a quiet retreat. We actually ate dinner at the Villa Shanti next door to the Griya most nights as we felt that the meals were excellent value for money. We hired push bikes just north of the Griya and rode the full length of the paved walkway along the beach. It's around a 10 minute walk up to the Griya from the Peneeda View and we found out on day 10 of our twelve days that the Peneeda View have free push bikes. We now know for next time!
