Are you a transit passenger in Melbourne, ie you have already gone thru immigration/customs in Sydney before you have left? Do you travel from Sydney to Melbourne on a domestic flight or is it International?
We do similar in Sydney in June.
Our flight from Melbourne departs at 12 noon, but it is a domestic flight number, ie JQ6430, I think the four numbers indicates domestic flight. We arrive in Sydney 13.20 then depart for Bali 18.00 on flight JQ37.
I expect we are flying domestic to Sydney with our luggage, then changing to International airport with our luggage to check in for the 18.00 flight. I also expect we will be able to do as we choose for the 4 or so hour wait.
On our return to Melb from Bali, we arrive in Sydney about 7.20am and leave at 12.00 for Melbourne. Yuk.
