I also had problems with both the guy and girl at Kumala Mini Mart in July.
You will find that there are NO prices on any of the items in the shop. My son came and told me that he thought he was being ripped off and I remembered reading on the forum a few years ago about the dodgy deals happening in this shop.
I went in for a 'test run' and purchased about 8 things and then asked for a receipt.
Well wouldn't you know it - I was charged for several items that were not mine. When I questioned this he became very aggressive. My son was embarrassed and left the shop but I wasn't going anywhere until I got my rupiah back.
He finally threw it at me after I told him that I had read on the internet that he was a thief and this would certainly be bringing him bad karma.
One of the Bali publications had asked tourists to report this type of activity - but to whom? I did not see any of the tourist police that were around a few years ago.
Maybe a forumite staying nearby would like to print up some of these complaints - remove the BTF heading and take it on their next trip. Giving a copy to police?, KP security? and the guy concerned.
He has obviously been doing this for years and getting away with it.
A similar thing happened on the same trip at Circle K in Poppies 1. This time I had purchased only 3 things and even though I was hopeless at Math at school I added up the items in my head. When they overcharged me I pointed out their 'mistake' and the cost of each item. They then turned the register around to show me they had 'accidently' left on the last customers purchases. No aggression this time just a look of Oops we got caught out - better luck with the next customer.
