This is a repost of mine from September 3rd...
Hi, just flew back to Jakarta from Singapore last night.. spent 3 days there, visiting my parents and introducing the boyfriend... (been visiting singapore on and off for the last 17 years, parents now live there)
www.visitingsingapore.com
there is some great shopping there.. a 24 hours mall called MUSTAFA'S you can find anything and everything in there.. :) and cheap "singapore" t-shirts (around 10 SGD each, and decent quality) ..which are good for gifts... and huge range of other souvenirs... key chains... bangles... magnets.. shirts etc.
Shopping in the malls as well, such as BUGIS JUNCTION, PARKWAY PARADE AND JURONG JUCTION... or you have ARAB STREET, CHINA TOWN (however being renovated at the moment) and LITTE INDIA...
They have several different tours, with "double decked" buses which cost about 33 Singapore dollars (valid for two days) with unlimited hop on/hop off with some side tours extra... and Singapore Airlines also has a "free" hop on/hop off tour...
Visit the EAST COAST PARK ..you will pass it on the way into Singapore when coming from the airport in a taxi. They have great seafood resto's there.. (ate there on the weekend, always a must do...fantastic) we ate at JUMBO'S .. right on the water..
Visit the MERLION park and get a photo taken in front of Singapore's icon .. or catch a "bum boat" down the Singapore River and get a commantary on the sites along the way (they also have a "duck" tour, using a vehicle which can travel on land and water)
They have the Bird Park, Singapore Zoo (they also have a night safari there).
Sentosa island... catch the Cable Car down from MT FABER... with great views of Singapore habour on the way down... then visit Sentosa Island...with great beaches, a butterfly park, and the "daddy" of all merlions :)
The Siloso fort is also at Sentosa, which was built for the war and read about the POW'S, and the fall of Singapore to the Japanese...
on the island itself they have another "sky ride" where you sit on something like a ski lift and again gives you great views of the place (6 Singapore dollars for a return trip/ride) ... then you can catch the small "beach trams" which are free and visit the different sites on the island and swimming spots...
There is also a tour which you can do, and visit CHANGI (not on Sentosa) but my father and uncle did it just last week and said it was a really dissapointing display....
TAKE LOTS OF WATER...its HOT HOT HOT HOT !!!! and an umbrella is always handy .. you never know when its gonna rain!!
