Thanks for asking. My first trip to Bali was in January 81. I loved it so much mum and dad went there in January 82. I laugh now cause I thought they were a bit 'old' for Bali but they were just a bit older than I am now. At the time I convinced them to stay at Pertamina Cottages cause that was one of the nicer places around. They went there, met my Balinese and expat friends and for the next 20 years almost matched me visit for visit and made so many friends. We had so many great times together there - sometimes for up to a month. At the time I was in my 20's and quite happy to holiday with my parents and enjoy the experience.
When mum got sick (she died 11th September 2001 on THAT DAY of the New York disaster from a very quick battle with cancer) she wanted to spend the rest of her days in a place her, dad and I had so many beautiful times. Where else but Bali.
I would now love to take my dad one day. He is a very young 70. I offered to take him when I did mum's ashes - a little too painful maybe... Even when I went back this time I thought he will remember being there with mum so maybe returning is just too sad. Sad but beautiful. Thanks for asking though.
