In extremely broad terms "Tiki" is a description for any of a wide variety of stone or wood carvings created by Pacific Islanders.
Put into terms of popular culture, Tiki is a design that symbolizes an idealized way of life. The concept of Tiki conjures up romantic fantasies of tropical islands, exotic cultures and easy living.
Tiki bars or lounges started to emmerse in the 1960's which the idea was to to try to captivate this tropical atmosphere that many people did not have the chance to experience.
