Where is the gratitude?

It always surprises me when people complain about the Administrator's ability to delete posts - and what they choose to delete.

Sheesh, it must be like being a referee in a sports game. You are never going to please both sides, and ultimately you will occasionally miss seeing some of the action that deserved your intervention, and misread other action happening on the field before you, and you will exercise your judgement based on what you think happened.

Yes, there will sometimes be innocent 'delete victims' but many is the time I wish I also had that Admin 'delete post' button on my computer to get rid of some of the most unfair posts!

OVERALL, THOUGH, We should be grateful that this forum exists and is maintained so beautifully with such wonderful archives! It must be an expensive exercise in both time and running costs, and I suspect it is also a labour of love (of promoting Bali) for those who keep it online.

I am sure many of us who post here are not (for now) in the position financially to hire the beautiful villas of the company who administer this site (but if I win Lotto I sure will be!) and yet they benevolently allow us to log post after post singing the praises of other accommodation options.

I have great respect for the Forum Administrator and the people behind the financing of this forum. I am sure when they set it up they never envisaged it becoming so prolific (or occasionally so contentious) yet they have not chucked in the towel, but rather they have honoured our love of Bali and our need to share with fellow Bali devotees all the advice and memories we have accumulated over time.

So, a few rules have had to be introduced over time, a few names banned for various reasons...what the heck! If you are the one who 'pays the piper' you are the one who 'calls the tune' - and fair enough!
