We get the most recent thread at the top of the page and we get the most recent reply at the top of each thread and that's the way I like it. What you interpret as the most "popular thread" is not necessarily the most popular thread for other forum members.
It's really not that hard to scroll down the page if a particular thread interests you. EOM
