And YOU should do it, its great :-) However I agree with Lolita: Its just as cheap to hire a driver and car. We have done it many times with the same driver many times (we've been going to Bali since about 1990). Using a Driver means that you don't have to worry about the wiggly roads,; finding hyour way (there aren't many sign posts); having trouble with the police; having any trouble with people who you feel threatened by (this is rare...but DOES happen); and being driven also means that you have time to see the countryside, and get advice about where to stop etc.,
IF you are going to do this then you need a good driver with a good command of English. I have seen people who can't understand their driver, and also those who have been taken to places that they don't want to go to.
If you want to e-mail me I will tell you the name of a brilliant driver, with a brand new car, (Toyota Kyjang with three rows of seats, and full air conditioning) who speaks English so well that he can read Novels written in English. (He also has some brilliant music in his car ...if you want it (Many different types of music).
The Island of Bali is SO beautiful, and so different from the South to the North, people ought to go and see it. There are of course places that are not worth bothering going to see, but there is FAR more to Bali than Kuta, and the south.
