I was thinking that I would get a chance to use my Bahasa in Borneo, but it didn't turn out to be the case. All the people in business seemed to be Chinese. At first, in Sandakan and Kuching, I was with a Chinese friend & they would speak Mandarin to her, but then she went back to Singapore to work and I had a week in Kuching by myself. Still didn't even hear people speaking Malay. It was all Chinese.
