The word "Bahasa" is often used colloquially by both native and non speakers of Indonesian meaning "Bahasa Indonesia". So saying I do or do not speak 'Bahasa' is quite acceptable and understood. Of course if one wants to be definitive one would include Indonesia, Bali, Jawi or even 'Stralian in their sentence.'
When you order a beer in Bali do you ask for a Bintang or a Bir Bintang? Which is correct?
Enjoy your Bahasa!
