That beach area at the back of Zanzibar from Jayakarta to 66 was fairly humming. On Sunday we strolled down mid afternoon and could not rent a chair anywhere from Jayakarta to 66!!! Now that's a first for us!!
The cafes around there were humming too both on the beach and street. All the beach ones (that hadn't burnt down and Zanzibar from the moment it opend) were packed. The street ones too were doing so much better. Warung Asia, Warung Murah, Flying Piano, Yuts and the one opposite all humming along nicely. Much better than when we were there in May.
Also in May we were, at one stage, the only Tourists in sight on Poppies 2 and all the cafes were very quiet. This time we were down there one lunch time and there were heaps of people shopping and eating. So good to see. Well the people weren't actually in heaps. That is an exageration. They were on their feet and bums!!
Mind you August is peak holiday time for Europeans so I suppose September could tell a different story.
