Arrived back in Perth early Thursday morn after 4 enjoyable days in Bali. We stayed at Legian Beach Hotel. This was my 7th trip since 1978 and have stayed at different hotels each time.

LBH was great. There are two units per bungalow. We were originally in 44C which was right at the back. We asked to be moved and without any fuss were given one in the middle. Much better thanks! The hotel was prob 70% full. Lots of euros and aussies too. Great pools and shady grass area. Breaky was average but nice - I like my banana pancakes but they didn't seem to have them.

It was great to see ppl sitting down the beach. Last trip (in Jan. 2006) the only beach ppl were further up at Seminyak. It was generally cloudy till about 11 and the temp was just perfect. The surf was the best I have seen Legian - a solid 6' plus with great shape.

I always go to have a massage at Reflexology & Spiritual Healing (in a side street near Barong Hotel off Poppies II). They seem well trained and charged 75,000. But you need to let them know that you might not want them to walk on your back or use those suction cups that leave rings on you back for a good few days. Go early morn when they are still fresh. Ring them to make an appointment Ph: 765958. I eventually discovered that it was only 10min walk from LBH rather than a 15 -20min taxi ride.

We didn't buy much just some T's for the kids from Surfer Girl $18 -$30. We thought the food in general was just ok. Went to Flying Piano - the food ok, music great - everyone was singing. The best was Hotel Mandira where we had Lebanese Dips 40,000, watching the surf and sunset. Gosha was good too.

I had a real hassle to ring home using my mobile. For 2 days we could not find anyone who could help us with all the codes and leaving off the 0's. The SIM card cost $10 for about 3mins worth. It's worth checking on this forum what the codes are. I will next time!

We went to the Discovery Centro Plaza thingy. On the 3rd floor there is a homeware store some prices were very good others the same as home. Maybe worth a visit for tools (Stanley). The bread shop there has a roaring trade but be prepared for 100% sugar content. Wow!

All in all we had a really great time and felt safe wherever we went. Bali was clean and everyone so helpful.
