we stayed at the merlin hotel in 2003. it is a good hotel well located along patong beach and close to the nightlife and shopping(just up the road to the right. they had a terrific smorgasboard for breakfast that was included. the pool area is also nice with a couple of seperate pools. if you are a bali fan do not go to phuket thinking it will be like bali or you will be dissapointed try at treat it as a different experience and you will enjoy it. we made the mistake of trying to compare everything to bali.
