there are many small reputable villa operators.
If they have been operating for a number of years and have their OWN credit card facilities you can be pretty sure that they are a good operation as the facilities would be withdrawn if too many complaints were received. Remote card facilities are also harder to get than point of sale facilities.
They will also give you email addresses or even phone numbers of previous guests so you can have another opinion.
Don't see how you can book anything cheaper through an agent than you can from the owner as agents want their commission off the top.
