Yes it has happened, but not usually to short stay visitors.
Consular staff met with police earlier this year and foreigners rights were spelt out.
Can't remember them all but here are some.
Police must have a search warrant.
Foreigner may telephone the signing officer to confirm he signed the warrant.
Foreigner may have witnesses to the search to stop anything getting planted. ( harder for a holidaymaker)
There are several other things too.
Would suggest that anyone seriously worried about this happening to contact the Consular staff and get a copy of the "rules" plus some phone numbers to ring in the unlikely event.
