re Fumigation & smell

The chemical that they use for the fumigation doesnt actually have a smell. They do put something else in it to make it smell so they can tell that the container has actually been fumigated. By law, everything in a commmercial container has to be fumigated, so you are not supposed to put anything in sealed plastic bags as the chemicals cant reach it. Most of the smell is usually caused by the inside of the container sweating because something has been damp when put in there. I have imported quilts before and never had a problem with them as they put those little packets of stuff that stop moisture in with them.I wouldnt worry about the smell at all, as nobody really even notices it after a day or so.Just put them out in the sun for a day.
