David Booth who is both founder and currently chairman of the East Bali Poverty Project has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his ‘services to sustain development in rural East Bali'. 2004. East Bali has an endemic iodine deficiency in the poor rural areas. The Project tries to remedy this by education, provision of clean water, a balanced diet and personal and local hygiene.
