You are much better off taking Australian cash and changing it over in Bali, in some places you can be charge commision you just have to be careful where you change your money, just shop around for the best rate.
If you change your money here or take traveler chqs you won't get near as good a rate as what you would changing AU dollars over in Bali. Most Money changes will only except $50 & $100 notes.
