What the other's have said is correct.
When looking to buy a camera, it is always more important to have optical zoom over digital.
You will find the cheaper cameras have a very low optical zoom, but high digital. This will not give you clear photos at all!
Just to confuse you more - megapixels is the amount of pixels in the photo. The higher the mp number, the clearer the photo. Just a hint though, unless you are enlarging a photo to bigger than A4 size, you rarely need bigger than 3mp. (Unless your zooming and then enlarging....)
