Hi all,
I never get around to doing JBR'S but I get so much info from others that I thought it was about time I contributed something!
My 7th trip with teenagers, son 15, daughter 13 and my folks.
Flight over a breeze, empty seats with room to spread out. We flew with AA and I believe some remnants of a garuda flight which was cancelled.
To set the scene, I am a holiday sloth with a capital S!!! I read, eat, sleep and of course sip cool drinks by the pool most days. I figure if you have to move around too much it isn't a holiday worth having, well that's me anyway, and then there is my husband, (alias Adventure Man). Well he couldn't make it due to a career change, bumma! So..... I had to keep the off springs a little happy by tending to Adventure Mans duties and I quite surprised myself by enjoying them immensely. I cycled through villages, rafted down rivers, slid down the most amazing slides at waterbom park but drew the line at the boomarang ride. I sat on the beach to watch my son surf and even let the sand stick to me for more than 5 minutes!
Stayed at Melati Apartments, fantastic place. Large 2BR apartment with living area decked out with TV, DVD and sound system. Attached coffee shop had the best staff, highly recommend this place.
Ate at:
Indo National
Lanai
Zanzibar
Blue Ocean
Pantai (Tuban)
Wayan and friends
Nero
Yutz
Goshas
Poco loco
La luciola (breakfast) All of which were great, no bad meals or service.
Shopped at Centro for cosmetics, had boots and shoes made, beads for my daughter at Toko central, DVD'S delivered by H*%G#i, emailed ahead for those, fantastic quality. Purchased all the usuals, sunnies, watches and T-shirts.
Caught up with Sammy, Susie, Smudge, Made and met Skully, Fisho Girl, The Kop, Gillb and their families. The best place for an afternoon bintang to watch the sunset.
Hate to get on the bandwagon but we did encounter the tennis guy for our second year in a row. This year he approached my son 3 times and didn't just ask him once and accept his firm "No thank you", he just kept asking for about 2 minutes or so! As he would walk away, my son with his head down from embarrassment, the tennis guy would keep turning to look back at me smirking and laughing, a bit creepy.
All in all, a fantastic time had by all but I do look forward to next April as Adventure Man will return with us and I can get back to business by the pool. Highlight for me was the Bike tour. I can give details for any of these tours via email.
