loved bali and always have been about 30 times over the last 27 years sometimes 2 a year for one month at a time when i was single and young (LOL)> came back in march bali is still a wonderful place to visit and the people so gentle and giving. the bombs have done what they started out to do that is clear the place of tourists. however my best memories of bali was when i went as a 20 year old 27 years ago when the place was totally unspoilt and Number one disco was on sanur beach and of course the old peanuts club. Ah they were the days. it was also a time when the balinese lived in the village of kuta and sanur and there was no Maccas only the small Warungs to eat from. the totally unspoilt bali however like every thing else bali has moved on and is now a metropolis and very busy. shop keepers last time i went there were telling me of the downturn in trade and the fact that they had not had buisness for so long. i even gave one woman who son was in his last year the money for him to stay at school for the rest of the year. (I DID this because of my own daughter still doing year 12). THE balinese unfortunately have built their life on tourism and the dollar that they bring so it is unfortunate that things have panned out this way. i feel that the indonesian airline should however also enourage us to return by keeping flights on direct from places like adelaide if they dont they will loose those tourists also becuase of convience.
