Around 120K rupiah. The guys that hire the scooters will organise to take you into the police station in Denpasar to get the photo ID license. They obviously have some 'arrangement' with them 'coz I went thru very quick quick! They might expect a little gratuity for the hassle of taking you in etc. 'specially since petrol costs are v. high (for them) now. Expect to pay up to 150K.
The license is a tourist license valid for 1 month.
Hiring a scooter should cost around 30K a day (incl. insurance).
It's very worth the trouble to do this, since you avoid paying lots of 'fines' if you're pulled over 'n have no license (unless you break some other law of course hehe). It's a great way to see Bali though, I had a real HOOT scooting around the streets. Can't wait to get there tomorrow....
