they're very useful & the pack that K mart sells includes 2 travel size which are small. For example I have used one to shrink-wrap a stack of kids t shirts which I'm bringing over to give to locals, and on the way back I will shrink-wrap a stack of sarongs I'm bringing back for my girlfriends. They take up less space in your luggage, keep things clean and dry. The travel ones you just roll up to expel the air. The other ones with the valve need a vacuum cleaner to suck air out. But they're good for out of season clothes and bedclothes at home so the K mart pack was good value - 20 bucks for 2 x massive (dooner size at least), 2 X large and 2 x travel. Of course I'm sure you can always find a vacuum cleaner over there if you wanted to really pack in a lot of gear on the way back - best for fabric purchase really, clothes etc.
