In my limited experience the best thing is to take a laptop. My wife and I arranged for six computers to go to Bali. After making sure we had all the required paperwork away they went with AP. They spent the next 13 MONTHS in customs in Denpasar. Many phone calls and a great deal of help from the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra and the Balinese Education Authority got us to a position where for a large sum of $US Customs would release them. Thanks to some local knowledge (not mine) this was reduced to a reasonable figure in $Aust. Was it all worth it?? I suppose the answer is a large YES, Will we try it again? probably not, because since then we've taken over laptops without being queried as to why we're taking them never mind being told we can't leave them. After all that Best of luck, the computers really do add to the ability for the kids to get out of the run of the mill routine.
