We went to ubud late April just to buy art and came back to hotel empty handed prices are rediculous & they were not prepared to barter some started at 3million rupiah(small size)we bought seven beautiful pieces in legian all up 650,000 (large & small) we were told that many Japanese & europeans are buying art in Ubud & pay asking prices so they wont barter with you why should they if a full paying customer walks in after you.
