Legian or Kuta, we've bought quite a few from a painter at the Legian Markets and others, we always keep in frames and have never had problem bringing them home. The shop will wrap properly normally with bubble wrap or newspaper and make a handle to carry and we book in as oversized luggage, frames don't weigh much if anything.
Paintings in Ubud may have a larger selection but not a huge difference in price..
