Don't be put off by one rude person. Regardless of how much you paid for your airline ticket (and it's your good fortune if you got a good price) The airline has in fact entered into a contract with you to fly you from Brisbane to Bali and back at an agreed price.
If for any reason Garuda have changed their flight schedule they should pay for any domestic flight in order for you to get back to your city of departure... as contracted.
I wouldn't be asking for upgrades... just ask them to get you to Bali and back to Brisbane as agreed, on the agreed time and dates.
We have a number of travel agents on the BTF... hopefully one will post and confirm what I've said or point you in the proper direction.
Hope you get some satisfaction.
