If you go to Lake Bratan on the way up north, there is the temple on the lake and the scenery around this area is beautiful. If you then decide that you dont need to visit another temple you can give Tanah Lot a miss.
That all being said I would leave early in the morning, by say 9.00am from Kuta to do the trip up north. You wont be rushed and can enjoy the different sights along the way. cheers :-)
