I remember being on a Qantas flight 19 years en route from Harare to Sydney via Perth and the flight was running 12 hours late. The purser could not have been more helpful and went out of his way to make sure that Qantas in Perth or Sydney would make sure that my family who were driving 3 hours from Shepparton to Melbourne Airport to meet me would be kept up to date of my whereabouts.
The problem is that Garuda does not seem to always have strong managers who can see the need to fly aircraft at more suitable times for example Perth to Bali, and who are prepared to say to the Indonesian ministers that they can not borrow/rent a plane because there are Perth based tourists etc who are depending on the flights running on time.
25 years ago Garuda was the biggest and one of the best airlines in the southern hemisphere. Hopefully it can get back to that soon. Thomas
