Every trip we use the porters and I have small change handy from the last visit.
We give 10,000 per porter, using two of them for one suitcase each.
Straight through customs and no problems, they try to get us to use the money changers at the airport, but we just politely decline, as not in need of Rp, keep some from previous trips.
I recommend to use them, they have a job to do too.
