I emailed our driver and he thought it would take about 2 - 2.5 hours. Looking on my map there doesn't seem to be any direct route from East to West - a lot of rivers in the way and not many bridges! We have decided to go via Kintamani, as hubby hasn't seen the volcano before. Don't plan on stopping (I remember the aggressive hawkers) - maybe just do a drive-by shooting (photo that is!!) On the map, it didn't look anymore awkward than going back towards Ubud then North.
Are you planning on stopping at Cracker's before the markets?
