The Amed area stretches for approx 12kms. There are just a couple of good, sandy beaches . These are situated at Lipah Bay and Selang Beach.
The other beaches tend to be rocky or stoney and shingly
Both are great for swimming and snorkling straight from the beach. The water is mostly calm and safe... although full moon does often affect the sea and it can be a little choppy.
There are no hawkers or hustlers to annoy you.... just sweet and friendly locals happy to stop for a chat and a smile or maybe give you a massage.
Selang beach has lots of trees for shelter from the sun.. also you can find lovely shells.
Lipah has more choice of places to stay.
I prefer Coral View to Hidden Paradise... althou as some one said... the beach is better in front of Hidden Paradise.. but you can walk up there in a couple of minutes.
Bayou is not on the beach... but has good views and is quite cheap and has steps to the beach.
At Selang Beach there is Good Karma Bungalows which is still a hippy paradise famous around the world!!
Also Blue Moon Villas beautifully situated on the hillside overlooking the beautiful ocean with steps down to the beach....Wonderful spa treatments available
Blue moon has fantastic food. So even if you dont stay with them... try the restaurant.
Restaurant Gede in Lipah is also very good and very nice people.
New warung next to Wawa Wewe1 seems popular these days.. but havent tried it myself.
So you can go swimming, diving , snorkling, sailing, trekking or just hang out on the beach or by the pool.
Amed may be too quiet and remote for those of you who love the hustle and bustle of Kuta/Legian.... Not much shopping or wild nightlife!! although there is live music a couple of nites a week at Wawa Wewe and the big bar next to Dancing Dragon cottage.
As Im sure you realise... I love this hidden gem of a place with its beautiful scenery, lovely people and slow pace of life ....For me it is paradise in paradise. Hope you will like it too!!
