Have flown AA 4 times - no different to other airlines re: carry on luggage. When we went through customs in Feb 2006 they did weigh them though, I think the limit is 7kg. And there are those square metal thingies at the airport which you need to be able to fit your hand luggage within its limits, or is oversized.
